The importance of
informing young people about nutrition and healthy eating is
now widely accepted. Olive are committed
to providing your pupils with fresh food via a balanced nutritional
diet. In fact, the new compulsory nutritional standards
which came into force in September 2006 had little effect upon
the way we approach the catering in our independent schools. Olive's
philosophy has always followed good nutritional practices of
producing menus balanced from all of the food groups, using
fresh ingredients and reducing salt and saturated fat.

For younger children (4-11 years)
we have developed a healthy eating programme that involves
both the teachers and parents in helping children to eat more
fruit and vegetables and cut down on fatty, sugary foods.
For older pupils (11-18 years), the principles still stand,
but the approach changes. Nowadays, young people have
developed sophisticated palates and demand varied food often
with international influences. Accordingly, we have
developed a menu range with influences from all over the world
together with marketing to appeal to this grown up age group.
